I am trying to run Eclipse to develop Android apps. When I first opened Eclipse it provided a link to install legacy JVM from apple.com, after that was installed I am getting this error messageVersion 1.6.065 of the JVM is not suitable for this product.Version: 1.8 or greater is requiredI installed the newer version (8u151) from java.com but that didn't help. I found the following link to download version 1.8 but that page has only the latest versions:Anyone figured out how to install Eclipse on Mac High Sierra?

From OS X 10.5, Apple introduced a ( /usr/libexec/javahome) which dynamically finds the top Java version specified in Java Preferences for the current user.Open /.bashprofile in any text editor and add: export JAVAHOME=$(/usr/libexec/javahome)Save and close the file.Open a Terminal and run the source command to apply the changes: source /.bashprofileNow we can check the value of the JAVAHOME variable: echo $JAVAHOMEThe result should be the path to the JDK installation: /Library/Java/JavaVirtualMachines/jdk1.8.0111.jdk/Contents/Home 3.2. Single User – Mac OS X Older Versions.
To set JAVAHOME in Linux for all users, we can use /etc/profile or /etc/environment (preferred).Open /etc/environment in any text editor and add: JAVAHOME=/path/to/javainstallationPlease note that /etc/environment is not a script, but a list of assignment expressions (that is why export is not used). This file is read at the time of login. To set JAVAHOME using /etc/profile, open the file and add: export JAVAHOME=/path/to/javainstallationRun the source command to load the variable: source /etc/profileNow we can check the value of the JAVAHOME variable: echo $JAVAHOMEThe result should be the path to the JDK installation: /usr/lib/jvm/java-8-oracle 5.
